About Molly Nagel​

 

I'm an artist living in Ames, Iowa. I recieved my BFA in Graphic Design from Iowa State University and returned to finish my MFA in Integrated Visual Art. The majority of my artwork explores themes of nature, animals and the individual spirit of the creatures we share our world with. I experiment with a wide variety of media and am always ready for an artistic challenge. Aside from artwork I enjoy cooking and baking, gardening, camping and hiking, and being with animals. My very wide variety of personal interests has led to an unusually diverse resume, as I have worked as a groundskeeper/gardener, chef, baker, dog kennel employee, freelance graphic designer, and tech support 'expert', and picked up a variety of other interesting if not exactly useful skill sets as well

(I can make professional-grade wedding cakes, create balloon animals, reupholster furniture, kind of play guitar, tell a pretty awesome ghost story, and give you a pretty solid explaination ADA service animal law and social etiquette, among other fun things.)

 

I own two rescued dogs and I am a fan of pretty much any animal with fur... or without fur. 

I voulunteer with pet rescues and with a local pet store working with their aquariums and fish, as I am also somewhat obsessed with the aquarium hobby and constantly have to fight the urge to get a third aquarium or swap one of my current tanks for something larger. Overall I view animals as intelligent, soulful beings worthy of human respect and consideration.

 

I love history and dream of living in a large historic residence. I love the character that comes with older buildings, including their faults, and it literally pains me to see beautiful older construction fall into ruin and be demolished. 

 

I enjoy jokes and laughter with friends and family, and have been known to have something of a snarky and slightly irreverent sense of humor, though I do try to be polite and respectful of the beliefs and opinions of others, and appreciate the same consideration in return.

 

I believe strongly in striving for excellence and pursuing the things one is passionate about, and encoraging others in following their dreams as well.
