The April full moon, the Pink Moon, is a call to us that as spring finally comes around, we can cast off the dead energy and baggage weighing us down, the things that no longer serve us, and come to revive ourselves into a new state for the coming year. The darkness of our own lives is a constant that stays with all of us- life is rough, shit happens. But natural moments like this are a good opportunity to access the baggage we carry and shift it away from ourselves in favor of growth.
I'm always hesitant to say that certain items are needed for rituals, because rituals are so very necessarily customizable. What works great for one person isn't going to work at all for another. So I'll generalize it this way. you're going to want:
-Something to cleanse your energy with- sage, palo santo, incense, sound, visualization, whatever you prefer.
-Something to make sure you have a very enjoyable shower or bath with- bath salts, awesome shower gel, whatever works for you.
-Optional, a candle, and you can read the ritual and see if you want to use that or something else.
-Optional, anything else you want to work with. Crystals are popular (I'm kind of a giant sucker for them myself) but anything else is just fine as well. Whatever you want to incorporate, if it makes the ritual feel more significant to you, then that's awesome.
-Optional but definitely recommended- a way to write things down
Step 1- clean up and cleanse your space
Tidy up the room or rooms you're planning on using. No need to go completely Marie Kondo on it, but try to make sure it's as uncluttered and clean as you can, as stagnant energy likes to cling to disorganized, dirty spaces. Once you've got it physically cleaned up, cleanse the space with sage, palo santo, incense, or use other methods such as playing music or visualizing the room swept with cleansing white light.
Step 2- physically cleanse yourself
Make sure you've got the time for a genuinely relaxing bath or shower, at minimum 15 minutes. While enjoying your time, visualize any old, dark energy washing away from your body with the water, flowing away from you and down the drain. Really give your energy to the visualization of purging layers of yourself, like old leaves from a plant that needs to shed it's old growth in order to manifest new leaves and flowers for the coming season of growth.
Step 3- Meditate on what you now want to manifest in your life
Once you're all clean, get comfortable in your space. If you've chosen to, you can light that candle right now and gaze at the flame to help get into a meditative state. Think deeply about what you want to bring into your life, on the specific type of new growth you want to achieve in the coming year. Envision the warmth from the flame filling you with determination and energy, which will give you the ability to manifest all the things you want to bring into your life, and will give you the strength to keep going with that, even if times get tough. When you feel that your time sitting with your thoughts is complete, you can blow out the candle, but keep it around and re-light it anytime you feel the need to use it's light to re-invigorate your resolve for growth and renewal in your life.
Optional- write down the main points of the things you want to be growing into and manifesting in your life, so you can keep it in mind if you ever feel you need to come back to your center and re-focus your energy.
And that's it! Happy April everyone, if you do this ritual or a variation of it I would love to hear your thoughts! I hope this is helpful, best of luck to everyone in this time of rebirth and renewal!
